Paint Your Own Ceramic Ornament

Materials needed:

  • paper: build projects on paper like a place mat. The clay won’t stick as easily to paper.

  • paint brush

  • small bowl of water

  • packet materials

    • clay ornament

    • glazes: red, black, green, yellow, brown

Instructions:

  • If you want to add texture, add it when the clay is still wet

  • Glazes work better when the ornament has dried out a bit (could be just for an hour or so or even an whole day. It’s not necessary, but it helps the color to be more saturated!)

  • We recommend two coats of glaze while painting, allow the glaze to dry in between coats.

    • a hair dryer helps to speed up the drying process!

As soon as your ornament is dry, it’s ready to return for us to fire in our kiln! (but if it’s not a few days, that fine too!)

Transporting Tips:

  • Don’t stack ornaments! We don’t want glaze to get on the backs

  • Lay flat on a surface like a cookie sheet with a towel on it and they should transport great!

  • Please return the filled out form so we have your information to return the completed ornament to you!
